Známý nový antisemita Karel De Gucht

Evropský kommisař obchodu, Karel De Gucht, prohlásil: "Nesmí se podceňovat váha židovské lobby na Kapitolu, v americkém Kongresu. Je to nejlépe organizovaná nátlaková skupina, jaká tam je. Mimo tuto lobby se nesmí podceňovat ani mínění průměrného Žida, který nežije v Izraeli. Většina Židů žije ve víře, že mají pravdu, těžko bych to mohl popsat jinak. A víra je něco, s čím se dá racionálními argumenty těžko bojovat. I laičtí Židé sdílejí tutéž víru. Ani s umírněným Židem tudíž není snadné diskutovat o tom, co se děje na Blízkém východě. Je to (pro ně) velmi emocionální otázka."

De Gucht si nedával pozor na jazyk už dřív: "V letech 2004 až 2009 byl belgickým ministrem zahraničí. Už tehdy mu jeho vyjadřování způsobilo určité problémy. V roce 2005 vyvolal diplomatický konflikt s Nizozemskem, když o jeho ministerském předsedovi Janu Peteru Balkenendovi řekl, že je to "směsice Harryho Pottera a rigidního měšťáka bez charismatu". Předloni energicky odsoudil údajnou korupci v řadách elity v Kongu, což vedlo k přerušení styků mezi Belgií a touto jeho někdejší africkou kolonií."

Teď je jeho problém mnohem vážnější. EJC (které se nenamáhalo poskytnout ucelené stanovisko, a proto cituji Jerusalem Post): "This is part of a dangerous trend of incitement against Jews and Israel in Europe that needs to be stamped out immediately. Once again we hear outrageous anti-Semitism from a senior European official. The libel of Jewish power is apparently acceptable at the highest levels of the European Union. This should worry everyone who seeks a more tolerant Europe. It has somehow become acceptable to attack Jews through Israel, even at the highest levels. The old anti-Semitic libels are remade to fit 21st century hostility to the Jewish state."

AJC si pozvala  De Guchta na kobereček: "It must be stated unequivocally that America’s longstanding support for, and solidarity with, Israel is not the work of any “lobby.”  It is our country’s natural identification with a sister democracy that shares Western values, has faced continuous security challenges, and holds profound religious and historical resonance for a majority of Americans. U.S. policy toward the Middle East has, indeed, remained consistent over the years – and reflects the support of Americans across the political, ethnic and religious spectrum. […] AJC maintains an office in Brussels, the AJC Transatlantic Institute, and in the spirit of dialogue we would be happy to discuss these and other issues with you there, or in the United States, at any time.  In the meantime, we strongly urge you to find ever opportunity to build on the corrective statement you issued today and undertake a serious effort to counter the scourge of anti-Semitism, which, regrettably, is all too real in today’s world."

Naproti tomu ADL nechodí ke kováříčkovi, ale rovnou ke kováři. Proto žádá předsedu evropské kommissi, aby svého antisemitu umravnil: "We urge you to issue a clear and public condemnation of Karel de Gucht's anti-Semitic remarks yesterday to VRT radio."

Soudružská De Guchtova sebekritika byla totiž naprosto nedostatečná: "Today Mr. de Gucht correctly said that "anti-Semitism has no place in today's world and is fundamentally against our European values," but he obviously does not recognize that his comments were anti-Semitic. He merely expressed regret that his comments "have been interpreted in a sense that I did not intend" and that he "did not mean in any possible way to cause offense or stigmatize the Jewish Community.""

Já se postoji ochránců lidských práv z EJC, AJC & ADL vůbec nedivím. Postavení Židů je nejhorší od druhé světové války; jsme na prahu nového holocaustu: "Most worryingly, Jews are being forced out of many European cities, like Malmo, because of the atmosphere of hostility and violence."
